To Introduce Myself

Brief Overview

Hello, it is nice to have people who are going to suffer all that I’m going to write. As you’ve already seen, I’ve left a sketch above.  Everything comes from an idea that has to go through some sketch or written understanding. It can be rough around the edges, like mine, or it can be nice and proper. That is what invention is to me. It’s not the refined final product but the naive and unmaterialized “sketch.”

Invention

La Faraona 2024

This painting “La Faraona” was a gift that I was somewhat forced to make (don’t sell something you don’t have), but the results were worth it. The painting has weak points, even after sketching, re-sketching, and bothering my friends about whether it was ready or not to paint. It was a process I did by myself, but one that required external help to become what it is now. Oftentimes, invention gets stuffed away with those science people who, you know, cure diseases and stuff like that. Yet, invention is quite universal to all fields. Computers and scientific advancement are not the only forms of innovation; God forbid.

Now, have I made anything new here? Not necessarily, but that’s not the point. I made something; I could have made something revolutionary had I wanted to; I didn’t want to; I didn’t have to. The thing that forces innovation is necessity.

A rational human minimizes effort and maximizes gain. That is often why some professors make students exert themselves excessively to get an A in their course. The A is really is just a letter that is becoming less and less relevant as employers want 22-year-old students to already have 4 years of experience in their field. Students know that, so they put less effort, the professor also puts in less effort (they could try to find some way of making higher education in their field more beneficial to their students), so grades are forced into bell curves.

Students find AI and other forms of cheating. Then the professor gets upset that his students are stupid and lazy. Both are lacking in innovation, and it creates a perpetual cycle where students see less and less value in their future degrees, and professors see less and less value in teaching. Both things are relatively true because there has been so little energy put into finding an innovative system for making higher education worth not cheating on.

In fact, innovation has reflected students’ sentiments, and there are tons of AI and “supplemental” tools out there that will read whatever strange book about existentialism your English teacher gave you. What’s ironic is that everyone complaining about AI more than likely cheated and lied on assignments way back when, in the old days.

In Conclusion ....

I’m sure you have more questions like: aren’t you in college? Do you cheat on your assignments? Are you even innovative? Don’t you not like technology? To all, I will answer, “I do not want to comment.” It’s not really relevant to why innovation interests me. I like spending time learning new skills, I like doing those boring and often tedious things. If not, I  wouldn’t be an accounting major. I’m also not one for lies; that’s a lie (now you don’t know how trustworthy I am). I will, however, assure you that what I express is truthful.

I took this random image of this cute little spider I took, while outside with my friends, because it was cute and I knew that it would tell a good story one day. I take college classes because they give me credits and meet graduation requirements. Take from that what you will, but I’m not a wasteful person. If have to do something I do it.

“Bagaje” means both knowledge and baggage in Spanish, it depends on the context which one is more relevant again, take with that what you will. I think I can learn what innovation is and how it works better from IDS2141. That is not the reason I chose this class, but if you have a opportunity, best not waste it.
